Pierre Metsu avec Dunkerque 1940 Journal Pictorial
The Battle of Dunkerque is clearly one of the most terrible and dramatic episodes of the France Campaign of World War II. Near the end of an exhausting retreat, nearly 350,000 French and British soldiers gathered at the Dunkerque bridgehead, protected by trhree French divisions responsible for leading delaying tactics, will be evacuated by sea, thereby escaping captivity or death. This album is the fruit of many years of research; virtually all the photographs in this book have never been published before and come from private collections. Most are accompanied by recent comparative photographs.
